ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR REPORT 4/19/200= 7

1.&n= bsp; Had a private meeting and attended the pre-application meeting for Davis Street Square project for Louis Longo. Details of this project will be presented to the EDC at their 4/19/07 meeting.

2.&n= bsp; Talked with Ryan McEvoy of Milone & MacBroom to arrange their presentation at = the 4/19/07 EDC meeting on their plans for the various Stop and Shop properties owned in town. They will make= a formal presentation to the EDC.

3.&n= bsp; Talked with Tim Martin, the developer proposing the hotel for Buckingham and 262.<= span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'> He is proceeding with site plans f= or presentation to the P&Z.

4.&n= bsp; Attended the “lunch with Mayor Mike” Jarjura on 3/22 at the CT Grand to = hear his reaction to his “performance evaluation” which the Economic Development Committee of the Chamber prepared. I am a member of that commit= tee.

5.&n= bsp; Met with Chick Frigon, Sandy Alves and Tom Lambert at Engineered Sinterings to discuss the final position of the town on either obtaining an easement or condemning a portion of his property for a sewage right of way to serve a greater portion of Watertown. Chuck has asked me to handle this potentially difficult negotiation, since Sandy is a prominent business owner in town.

6.&n= bsp; Talked with the President of Associated Carting-Coastal Waste, who provides scrap lumber and wood chips to a power plant in Milford, and put him in touch with Bill Carter of Tamarack Energy to possibly supply wood chips for the new plant in Watertown.

7.&n= bsp; Talked with Debra Bernardi of American Roto Rooter of Watertown, concerning her concerns with possible zoning and sewer issues about the new building they are building o= n Thomaston Road. I tried to re-assure her that thin= gs were on target.

8.&n= bsp; Met with and had lunch with Lou Pallos, who is the small business loan speciali= st at Wachovia Bank in Watertown<= /st1:place> to discuss a possible loan program for smaller businesses, potentially sponsored by the EDC. More wo= rk has to be done with other banks.

9.&n= bsp; Met with Jack Traver and Carl Siemon, President of the Siemon Company, to discu= ss how we could work together for both Siemon and the town.<= /p>

10.&= nbsp; &nbs= p; Met with Steve Silver of the CT Economic Development Commission and Chuck Frigo= n to discuss possible ways the CTDECD can help Watertown, including a potential = composting business on currently town owned land, next to the landfill.

11.&= nbsp; &nbs= p; Had breakfast with Laurie Kehoe of Kehoe Realty to discuss the work of the EDC = and how she could play a part in the future.

12.&= nbsp; &nbs= p; Had a phone conversation with George Sacchi a town resident, where I did a lot = of listening concerning his feelings about how he felt the EDC did not do enou= gh to encourage Konover to move to town.

13.&= nbsp; &nbs= p; Wrote a letter of support, with the Chairman of the EDC’s permission, for T= om Boileau’s proposed zone change for Ferre Form cor= poration in Oakville. He was very pleased with the suppo= rt.

14.&= nbsp; &nbs= p; Jack Traver appeared before the Inland Wetlands Commission in support of Mark Todesco’s project in the industrial park. The commission approved the projec= t.

15.&= nbsp; &nbs= p; Arranged for a tour for Chuck Frigon, and Larry Black of = the Emergency Center and of the Gas Control room= of Northeast Utilities on 4/17/07. They were both interested in seeing what NU does in an emergency. The meeting was cancelled and will be re-scheduled due to the recent storm and CL&P’s involvement in getting power restored.

16.&= nbsp; &nbs= p; Attended a zoning pre-application meeting for renovations to the pin shop building i= n Watertown.

17.&= nbsp; &nbs= p; Attended the meeting of the Fall Festival Committee to discuss possibly re-locating = the festival to main street.

18.&= nbsp; &nbs= p; Corresponded with Bill Carter of Tamarack Energy to answer his questions concerning the = cost of water and sewage connections to his Echo Lake property, and to give him s= ome names of consultants familiar with Watertown’s Wetlands regulations.
