Santa's Holiday Light Parade and Road Closure Press Release

SANTA ARRIVES WITH HIS OWN HOLIDAY LIGHT PARADE

The smell of pine and the twinkling of lights - its holiday magic at the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. Watertown Fire and Parks & Recreation Departments are pleased to announce that Santa Claus will be arriving in Watertown on Friday, November 29th and to celebrate his arrival a town-wide Holiday Light Parade and Festival has been planned. The Parade will depart French Street onto Main Street at 4:30pm and proceed north along Main Street to the Gazebo at the corner of Routes 6 and 63. The Parade will arrive at the Gazebo at approximately 5pm, where Santa will light the official Town Christmas Tree. Families are encouraged to make and bring an ornament to be added to the Tree. Santa will then move into the Gazebo where he will listen to the wishes of the children and pose for photographs (please remember to bring your camera!). Mrs. Claus will be in the area, supporting Santa and offering another opportunity for photos. We will also have Santa's Mailbox for the mailing of those special letters and wish lists. This event is about children, family and community and so all activities are free. In keeping with tradition, the volunteers from the Fire Department will be offering goodies and hot cocoa free of charge. To keep you busy and entertained while waiting to chat with Santa, Lucky Dogs World Famous Hotdog Food Truck, face painting and balloon animals will be offered. This is a holiday tradition you don't want to miss!

This event marks the beginning of many holiday events in Watertown/Oakville, including on Saturday November 30th The Holiday Craft Fair at Swift Middle School. Come out and enjoy this wonderful community ~ bring your family ~ invite your neighbor ~ celebrate whatever your holiday is ~ celebrate!
