Watertown's Road Paving Program Achieves Milestone with Completion of Key Projects
The Town of Watertown Road Paving Program reaches a significant milestone with the successful completion and progress on crucial road improvement projects.
Over the past several months, the Watertown Road Paving Program has been diligently working on a series of road paving and repair initiatives aimed at improving the safety, accessibility, and overall condition of Watertown's road network. The completion of these projects signifies a significant investment in the community's transportation infrastructure, benefitting residents, businesses, and visitors alike.
Key accomplishments of the Road Paving Program include:
- Crack Sealing: 8.6 miles of roadways completed and another 9 miles of roadways this early fall.
- Hungerford Ave: Town has opened up bids for drainage improvements with new catch basins and new drainage pipe. Currently working with the low bidder. Oct 1, 2023, weather pending Drainage work will start up again. Our goal is to pave this fall. Separate message will be put out on additional details.
- Chip Seal and Fog Seal: 4.3 miles of Watertown's roadways have been Chip Sealed and Fog Sealed, eliminating potholes and uneven surfaces that were safety hazards to motorists. This effort has significantly improved the driving experience for all road users and extended the life of the roads by 7 years.

2.4 miles of additional roads are being considered for another round this early Fall 2023

- Milling and Paving: 3.2 miles of town roads will be affected. Waters Construction Company has secured the contract and gave an estimated start date of September 18, 2023, weather permitting.

- Reclaiming Middlebury Rd: 2 miles of Middlebury Rd from Bunker Hill to Route 6 is currently out to bid and planned to be completed before the end of Fall. This will include a total reconstruction of this section of Middlebury Rd (between Bunker Hill to Route 6), including drainage improvements. Bids close on September 7, 2023.

- Reclaiming Additional Roads: Currently out to bid is an additional 1.33 miles of roads to reclaim across town. The bids close September 14, 2023. The work on these roads will not start until the Spring of 2024.
