Deputy Chief Renee Dominguez


DC FinalOn 9/19/22, the Town of Watertown officially swore in Renee Dominguez as Deputy Chief of Police. Deputy Chief Dominguez has been a police officer since November 2000 starting her career with the Newtown Police Department before transferring to the City of New Haven Police Department in October 2002 where she rose to the level of Interim Chief of Police before retiring in May 2022 with 20 years of service.

As Interim Chief of the New Haven Police Department, DC Dominguez commanded over 325 sworn officers and supervisors. During her 22 years in law enforcement she has worked in many capacities. She has held the ranks and assignments of Patrol Officer, K9 Handler, Peer Support Coordinator, Hostage Crisis Negotiator, Patrol Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant, District Manager of three different districts in the City of New Haven, Lieutenant in the Detective Bureau and Assistant Chief of Patrol/Operations.

DC Dominguez earned her master’s degree in Criminal Justice at the University of New Haven and earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of New Haven and a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Southern Connecticut State University.
