Veterans Exemptions

If you are a veteran or a veteran’s widow that has served within qualifying war years and has filed their discharge papers with the town, you will be eligible for the following exemptions:
Assessment reduction for all veterans, based on your disability rating with the VA (must provide paperwork) Basic reduction: $4500If you have met the above requirements and are at least 65 years of age or fully disabled through social security, and your income is not above the limits listed below, you will be eligible for additional veteran’s benefits.
State Option BenefitSingle person: $40,300 income limit
Married couple: $49,100 income limit
Both single or married: $45,000 income limit
For both state and local options, you will need to apply in person at the Assessors' office with all proofs of all incomes.
Applications are accepted February 1st – October 1st
Active Duty
If you are an active duty member of the armed forces on the assessment date and have filed a written application, you will be eligible for the total exemption
Apply before December 31st of the assessment year.
